The Philippine Christian University rolled over Victorious Christian Academy, 86-57, on Thursday at the start of the South Luzon qualifying for the National Basketball Championships (NBC) Inter-High at the Bacoor Stadium in Cavite.
Getting a big game from Carlos Macas who delivered 13 points, PCU never relinquished a double-digit lead after posting a 26-13 margin at the end of the first period en route to victory in the eight-team knockout format of the tournament for boys 19-under from private schools.
PCU moved to the next round for a chance to bag the Cavite leg and represent the province in the South Luzon championship. The North Luzon qualifying is still ongoing with scheduled games in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Ilocos, and Albay.
So far, already seeded in the Luzon qualifying were Pampanga College (Pampanga leg), la Consolacion (Bulacan leg), and Far Eastern U-Diliman (NCR).
