BRACE yourself as eight of the best private schools in Laguna vie for pride and honor in the inaugural National Basketball Championship (NBC) Laguna leg which fires off today (Nov. 7) at the Cabuyao Stadium.
Game time starts at 9:00 a.m. following an elaborate opening ceremony. The match-up will be determined through a lottery.
Teams with connections from the Universities Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) banner the second leg for the South Luzon Championship in the tournament presented by Jamsap Entertainment Corporation headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jojo Flores.
Many-time UAAP junior champion National University-Laguna clashes with NCAA squads Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna, St. Benilde International School, and Mapua Malayan Colleges in the eight-team knockout-format tournament.
Other teams vying for the rights to represent Laguna in the South Luzon Championship are Liceo De Cabuyao, Liceo De Cavinti, Maranatah Christian Academy, and Queen Anne School of Sta. Rosa.
The Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas, another NCAA-backed school, was crowned Cavite leg champion after demolishing Gateway Integrated over the weekend and took the No.3 seed in the South Luzon Conference.
The qualifying round for the South Luzon is already scheduled in Batangas, Quezon, and Rizal.
The NBC Inter-High is a nationwide basketball program targeting the participation of over 200 private schools with PBA legend Arwind Santos acting as Commissioner.
"Expect thrill and excitement as we go further in South Luzon Conference in our nationwide search for the best young basketball players. This program might help them get scholarships and realize their dreams,” said Flores.
