After the Pampanga qualifying, actions shifted to Manila with the National Capital Region (NCR) leg of the inaugural National Basketball Championship (NBC) Inter-High.
The three-day Pampanga event is underway starting on Friday (Oct. 16) at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Convention Center.
Set to start on October 18 at the Amoranto Sports Center in Quezon City, organizing Jams Entertainment Corporation headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jojo Flores announced that eight private schools have joined the league for boys 19-under.
The participating schools are Holy Trinity Academy, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, Nazarene Catholic School, FEU Diliman, Jaime Cardinal Sin Learning Center, San Felipe Neri Catholic School, St. Mary’s College-Quezon City, and STI College-Munoz.
Flores stressed that the league under the Jams Sports program is a platform for Filipino young cagers to showcase their basketball skills and potential that could pave the way for the realization of their basketball dreams.
The tournament format calls for eight participating schools to play in the knockout phase to determine the NCR champion and to represent Manila for the North and Luzon championships.
The same format will be used in the succeeding qualifying round in Bulacan (Oct. 20-22), Rizal (Oct. 23-25), Cavite (Oct. 26-28), Laguna (Nov. 3-5), Nueva Ecija (Nov. 6-8), Isabella (Nov. 9-11), Cagayan (Nov. 12-14), Ilocos (Nov. 15-17), Pangasinan (Nov. 18-20), Batangas (Nov. 21-23), Quezon (Nov. 24-26), Camarines Norte (Nov. 27-29), Camarines Sur (Nov. 30 to Dec. 1-2), and Albay (Dec. 3-5).
The league goes to Visayas and Mindanao for separate knockout eliminations going to the National Finals where the champion will receive a whopping P1 million prize and scholarship grants for deserving student participants.
