It’s all system go for the inaugural National Basketball Championship (NBC) Inter-High with the Pampanga qualifying fires off on Friday (October 13) at the Gov. Bren Guaio Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The eight-team schools – St. Augustine Institute of Pampanga, Holy Angel’s University, Don Bosco Academy-Mabalacat, St. Mary’s Academy, Pampanga Colleges, Sta. Cruz Academy-Lubao, St. Vincent’s Academy of Apalait, and Guagua National Colleges – were introduced by Jams Entertainment Corporation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jojo Flores during the tournament’s media conference on Sunday at the Don Bosco Academy auditorium in Mabalacat.
During the occasion, Flores also formally named basketball legend Arwin Santos as the tournament Commissioner.
“We’re happy and proud to announce that PBA star Arwind Santos will serve as NBC Commissioner,” said Flores.
Santos, a 9-time PBA champion (all in San Miguel Beer) and the only active player in the top 7 PBA ‘Tapal King’ honor list with 900 shot blocks expressed his gratitude to Flores for making him a partner in the program he called ‘a true service for the youth’.
Presented by Jam Sports under the supervision of JAMSAP Entertainment Corporation, the school-based tournament aims to become the country’s foremost grassroots basketball program and the biggest in terms of school partnership and participation.

Getting ready to strut their wares after the draw of lots is St. Augustine vs Don Bosco Academy; St. Vincent vs Sta. Cruz; Pampanga Colleges vs Holy Angel’s and the duel between Guagua National Colleges vs St. Mary’s Academy.

Teams from Manila are STI College Munoz-EDSA, St. Mary’s College, Holy Trinity Academy, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, San Felipe Neri Catholic School, Jaime Cardinal Sin Learning Center, Far Eastern University-Diliman, and Marymount Academy.
Aside from Pampanga and NCR, qualifying games are scheduled in Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Isabela, Cagayan, Ilocos, Pangasinan, Batangas, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Albay.
The top team from regional elimination will slug it out for the National Finals with a whopping P1 million prize for the champion and scholarship for promising players.
