St. Augustine Institute of Pampanga fell short of its campaign in the just concluded Pampanga leg in the inaugural National Basketball Championship (NBC) Inter-High won by Pampanga Colleges.
But the school holds some piece of history in the league for boys 19-under among private schools in the province as the first recorded basket came from SAIP player John Lhianne Lapus.
The 17-year-old Lapus scored on a lay-up off the assist of Kyle Benedict Mercado just two seconds after the jump ball. The historic basket sparked St. Augustine's offensive gem en route to annihilating 108-32 win over Don Bosco Academy.
But St. Augustine failed to sustain the momentum and lost to Guagua National Colleges in the crossover semifinals, 92-85.
